What Causes Swelling In The Neck While Suffering From Strep Throat?

hello.. i have strep thoat and went to a dr. Sunday evening and he gave me a shot .. i had the choice of a shot or oral antibiotics for 10 days.. how long does this last ?? I woke up at 3 a.m. with bad pain and am trying to sip on hot tea and using a heating pad . I thought i would be better today .. today is day 3 after the shot.. neck is swollen and throat/gland is hurting bad! Thanks Linda

You might have granular pharyngitis infection by streptococci, for which penicillin injection can be given...

As after three days you have swollen node and swelling., throat swab can be taken and sent for culture...

Meanwhile steroid short course of betamethasone 0.5 mg might given..

Drink more water and fruit juice

Strepsil with vitamin c containing lozenges can be taken...

Avoid excess spicy and salt water gargles done

Advise : physician consultation and discuss your treatment plan after examination
