What Causes Swelling In The Parotid Gland?

yes. i have sjogrens and my parotid gland is swollen. it has been swollen for 20 years and the only problem i had was cellulitis and was hospitalized for a week, butsoslately it is swelling more. Should I be concerned with something going on. YYYY@YYYY

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

If you had Cellulitis for which you were treated and now if the swelling is progressively increasing then it has to be taken care of and you need to get checked as it looks like the infection is increasing and can lead to facial space infections..
So my suggestion is to consult your doctor and get evaluated so that the exact cause of swelling can be ruled out..
Also get a scan of your parotid gland done to check for the cause of swelling as there can be benign tumor of the gland..
If it is due to cellulitis then i.v and oral antibiotics can be given for reducing infection and swelling..
