What Causes Swelling In The Right Eye After Waking Up?

I have recently noticed that when I first wake up my right eye, in which I have been dianosed with early stage dry macular degeneration, feels swollen and difficult to keep open. As I get my day going, the feeling quickly subsides.Now in the last few days, I have noticed that same feeling and difficulty when I am very tired. There is no appearence of swelling, no itching, only the feeling of being swollen and the difficulty to open, or keep open, the eye

Conditions like renal dysfunction is a possibility. Nephrotic syndrome and hypoalbuminemia can cause similar symptoms.
