I have recently notice that the right side of my thyroid appears enlarged. I will be making an appointment with my family physician ASAP. I feel fine in general, however noticed that I am starting to feel the lump in my throat, and notice it more so when sleeping on my right side. I am a 30yo female. 5 11 140lbs.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my surgical experience, thyroid swelling does not cause issues with a prominence at sleeping on right or lump in the throat.

I predict more of salivary gland swelling via inflammation as in the submandibular gland or else.

Kindly provide me a photo image of the swelling when it is most prominent during follow up the discussion so that I can guide you more precisely from my surgical experience.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
