What Causes Swelling In The Testicle?

Hello... My right testicle has swelling. I felt discomfort a week ago and on Friday noticed it was enlarged. I have not seen a doctor yet because I had to go out of town on Saturday and just returned. I had a vasectomy 7yrs ago and it feels like the discomfort is coming from the tube he cut and carterized.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Since vasectomy has been done the chances of retrograde urinary tract infection travelling to the testes causing epididymo-orchitis is technically not possible
Hence the causes can be related to the testicle like torsion of testes or development of hernia or primary infection.
This can be diagnosed by the following:
First of all send the sample of urine and blood for tests.
Clinical examination by your Doctor and second opinion of an Urologist.
Ultrasonography of abdomen particularly for genitourinary system and of scrotum with color doppler examination too can help us to get the exact cause and plan for management.
Take plenty of oral fluids.
May need symptomatic and supportive management also.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant,
