Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swelling In The Throat While On Anastrozole?
I started taking anastrozole 1 mg on 1/10. At first I almost felt better than I had been feeling - well-being. Just within the past 2 days my throat feels funny, almost swollen on the inside; I have indigestion and heartburn; I m not sleeping well and I have a pimple on my face that is quite large and I m not prone to blemishes. Will this subside or should I mention to my medical oncologist?
In few patients, anastrozole may cause throat swelling and pharyngitis. Also, check for acute pharyngitis or upper respiratory tract infection. Avoid cool drinks and freeze water avoid smoking and caffeine drinks.
Use tablet amoxiclav twice a day for five days. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
