What Causes Swelling In Throat Along With Blocked Nostril?

I have recently had a sore throat (the pain was so severe it would wake me up in the middle of the night) the swelling has gone down, but now I seem to be having problems with my nose. My one nostril is completely blocked and I ve tried everything to unblock it, also every time I blow my nose, it comes out pinkish. I m just wondering if this is something I should be concerned about or if it s just normal. I ve never had my snot look like that, so I m just slightly concerned. I started taking antibiotics for this cold 2 days ago, this is my third day, could it be my body reacting to the medication? Thanks for you consideration

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain blocked nose along with sore throat can be due to either upper respirator tract infection or can be due to sinus infection or sinusitis.

The pinkish discharge from nose while snuffing the nose can be due to slight blood discharge along with the mucous and can occur due to inflammation inside the nostril or the sinus secondary to inflammation caused due to infection..

I would suggest you to start taking decongestants like Phenylephrine, decongestant nasal spray like Xylometazoline, mucolytics like Ambroxol,steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room..
Avoid spicy and chilled foods and drink plenty of warm water..

In case if the condition still does not improve you should consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and he can advise you nasal endoscopy to look for causes like Nasal polyps, foreign body in the nostril and treat accordingly..
