tonsils are a lymphoid tissue and they usually enlarges on account of infection; so also, the inguinal lymph nodes. But both drains different parts of body. Upper respiratory tract infection is associated with tonsillar enlargement. Lower abdomen, testis, lower extremities infection may result in to the hypertrophy of the lymph nodes of the inguinal region.
