What Causes Swelling Inside The Nostril?

After having a cold for a week, I suddenly have like a balloon of mucus or something in my nose. You can see that my right nostril is swollen from the outside and when looking inside can see the "balloon" hanging. How should I treat this? Should I be alarmed?

nose contains balloon like structures known as turbinates. in allergic patients, the size of turbinates increases so much that it can be seen from outside and such that it causes a nasal obstruction. I suggest you to undergo a nasal endoscopy to rule out any lesions or polyp in the nose. polyps and lesions should be removed. if it is a swollen turbinates, it can be easily shrunken.
