What Causes Swelling, Itching And Hardness Around Insect Bite On Child?
My 2.8 year old was bitten by something on her forearm 7-10 days ago. I just assumed it was a misquitoe because we were outside playing just before dusk. The bite area swelled up some and the area was the size of a quarter and was a little hard to the touch. It did itch but after several days it started to get smaller and stopped itching. Today she has a red splotchy itchy rash that covers over half her forearm, except for where the bite is. The rash is warm to the touch. We have been putting cortisone on it. Do we need to be more concerned ?

it would resolve spontaneously in a few days time. the inflammation/swelling would be at its peak on 2nd-3rd day. just tell your kid to not scratch it because it might get infected.
