What Causes Swelling Of Hands And Fingers After Drinking Alcoholic?

Just curious I like to have a occasional alcholic drink every now and then either a mixed drink or a beer, but everytime I do my hands and fingers swell is there a reason why this happens and is there anything that I can do to prevent this from happening?
By the way I'm a 46 year old female...5'8 and 170
