What Causes Swelling Of Hands?

I am a nurse and I am standing alot most of the day lately I have noted my hands are swelling and my feet hurt bad after sitting a couple of minutes, but only when I start walking then it lets up, But it is very painful. I am trying to let up on salt for the swelling in my hands. I am 48 years old and not on any medications. Is this Arthritis or something else.
