What Causes Swelling Of Leg?

hi,im 25 years old and have recently had a very nasty throat infection and now a week after my left leg has become red and very swollen aswell as some parts on my right leg. it was very painful up untill today and has now become more of a tingling numby feeling like just before pins and needles sets in. ive been to the doctor already and he said it was a viral infection and will have to clear up on its own,but im gettin slightly worried as my leg has almost doubled in size . should i go back to him or leave it for a few more days?
