What Causes Swelling Of Lower Face And Lips When Diagnosed With Hyperthyroidism?

My daughter was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. She was referred to an endocrinologist but has not been able to see one. She keeps having extreme swelling episodes of lips and lower face. They recommended allegra and benadryl for hives. Is her swelling dangerous?

Hello,

Swelling of lips and lower face could be due to allergy. I support the use of allegra and benadryl, however, the swelling still does not disappear, you need to consult your primary healthcare provider.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
