What Causes Swelling Of Lower Jaws After Placing Dentures?

Hi I just got implants on my lower jaws.I had the dentures placed on yesterday . It seems that when i eat my glands start swelling to the point of extreme. I have to stop eating and remove the denture and the swelling goes down . Why is this happening? .

Understanding your concern.

Thanks for your query . Every surgery had certain complications and implant placing surgery is no exception , one can experience swelling ,bruising and bleeding at implant placement site . But is the swelling persists there is problem for sure .

In your case there can be certain possibilities that infection occur after implant placement surgery (implantitis or mucositis ) , Ill fitted denture on implant can also cause swelling or some preexisting condition can also cause such problems like gingival disease .

I would suggest you to revisit your dentist for proper examination and to find out the exact cause . Doctor may prescribe antibiotic course.

For now do warm saline rinses or betadine rinses several times a day ,do not wear denture , maintain proper oral hygiene and eat soft diet .
