Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that pain in jaw along with difficulty in opening the mouth as well as pain on chewing can be due to causes like severe tooth infection leading to dental abscess formation, Pericoronitis that is inflammation of the gum flap surrounding the wisdom tooth, Cellulitis etc..
Pain in ear can be radiating pain from jaw..

It seems like Inflammatory condition and in this case, you should never do warm compresses and should always do cool compresses..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like X RAY can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

You can be advised to take a course of antibiotics like Augmentin, anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, do warm saline gargles..
You should do cool compresses over the jaw..
In case if pain does not resolve with regular pain medications higher painkillers like Tramadol or Ketorolac can help..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
