What Causes Swelling Of Salivary Gland After Eating Sea Food?

Last night I was at a party where I ate shelfish, quail and other Vietnamese dishes with sauces. A t one point I bit down on something and immediately got a funny feeling pain under my right ear. Seems my patirod gland is very swollen. Today I am unable to eat as soon as start eating the gland will swell. Could this be triggered by something I ate?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems like some foreign body or stone formation has obstructed the duct of the Parotid gland and due to it siva is unable to flow out of the gland into mouth and flows back to the gland especially during meals when the Saliva flow increases and due to backflow of saliva there is swelling in the gland secondary to saliva accumulation..
You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like X-ray or MRI of the gland can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
If the obstruction is superficial palpation and removal by pushing it towards the duct orifice of the gland can help..
In case if itbis deep surgical removal under Sialoscope which is a type of endoscopy can be done..
