What Causes Swelling Of Tongue During 30 Weeks Of Pregnancy?
Hi, I m 30 Weeks Pregnant and everything is going smoothly. 2 Days ago my tongue started to swell up, it has remained swollen, although doesn t really hurt, it s just annoying and a bit uncomfortable. I ve been drinking lots of water to keep my mouth lubricated as it seems to be drying out quicker than normal. I do have a small ulcer on my outer gum, but it s not painful at all. I haven t eaten or drank anything different. Any Ideas??
Since you have an ulcer on the outer side of the gum, it could be the reason for swelling of your tongue. Please apply glycerine borax solution to the ulcer and the tongue. You may take dental surgeon's opinion for the gum ulcer. Consume lemon and take vitamin C tablets. If you are having any habit of tobacco chewing, please leave it.
The other reason for swollen tongue may be Thyroid deficiency. Do you feel lethargic with low appetite? Better get your blood examined for T3, T4 and TSH. Thyroid deficiency does have adverse effects on the growth of the baby and course of pregnancy. So please do not ignore.
Please report to your Obstetrician for final diagnosis.
