What Causes Swelling On Foot And Ankle Post Total Hip Replacement Surgery?
My husband had a total hip replacement last Monday afternoon,he was released out of hospital Thursday morning ,still taking pain killers and doing his exercising regularly as instructed,but when he sits in a chair to watch TV,his foot and ankle that the hip was operated on swells up,when he goes back to bed and gets his legs up the swelling goes down ,what do think would be causing this?

This is called dependent oedema and is very common post hip surgery. This is due to lymphatic vessels injury during surgery. This is harmless and will take months to disappear. So do not worry. Apply crepe bandage on leg when sitting and mobilization. Take tab chymoral forte thrice a day for 5 days before meals. This will help in relieving oedema.
