What Causes Swelling On Hands?

I have been having swelling in my hands first it was both hands now it is just my right. Noticed upon waking in the morning I have recently noticed this within a two week period. I have also have and abnormal ekg and waiting on stress test and echo results. could this be related.51 yrs old thyroid is under active on medication for that at this time over weight for my height 60 lbs over
