What Causes Swelling On Knuckle?

About 2 weeks ago I noticed a small red bump on my index finger knuckle. I thought it was a wart but a few days later my whole knuckle turned red and then it got swollen and bruised looking. I went to the doctor and was put on two antibiotics but I'm worried because it is still swollen. Is this normal?
