What Causes Swelling On The Face And Lips?

i HAVE 2 OR 3 SESSIONS WITH ANGIOEDEMA PER WEEK. FACIAL SWELLING, LIP SWELLING, HAND SWELLING AND RECENTLY MY TONGUE SWELLED SO THAT i WENT TO THE er. i WAS TOLD TO ELIMINATE
LISOPRIL FROM MY MEDS, WHICH i HAVE DONE FOR 2 MOS. AND STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. nOW TOLD TO ALSO ELIMINATE iRBESARTAN. iS THERE ANY ANSWER TO THIS AFFLICTION....i CANNOT FIND ANY DR' WHO KNOWS MUCH ABOUT IT...

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

As per your symptoms it is probably allergic reaction only but if after withdrawing the medicine the symptoms still occur then it can be due to some other allergens..

Certain allergens can be foods or medications,poison ivy, skin cosmetics, air pollutants etc..

So it is better to consult an Emergency room and get evaluated and blood test can be done to rule out allergies like RAST test, Patch test, Prick test, Food challenge test etc to rule out the exact allergen..

For now if there is allergy symptoms take anti allergics like Benadryl , Levocetrizine etc and do cool compresses over the swelling..
