What Causes Swelling On The Left Ankle After Receiving Epidural Shots?

I have 4 herniated docs, bone spurs compressed nerves and stenosis from level 5 to level 3 and curvature of the spine. After my last double epidermal in October I have had swelling of my left ankle and top of foot (this is the side of spine with the issues. Could this be related to the spine issues or maybe the epidural?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The Epidural shot does not cause ankle swelling. It might be something else like minor contusion or ligament injury.

As a first line management, you can apply ice packs and take analgesics/anti-inflammatory combination for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedician and get evaluated.

An MRI scan will be required for further assessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
