What Causes Swelling Under My Left Breast?

I have recently discovered a swelling under the left breast. It is about 2 inches, egg-shaped and not painful. I have had pain on and off for over a year under the left rib cage and was told it was probably muscular. I have an identical twin diagnosed with breast cancer exactly one year ago. I am concerned.

Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
There is no need to panic, but this should definitely be investigated further especially since your twin had cancer. If this lasts for more than a year then this is not likely to be breast cancer but ultrasound of this swelling should be done since it may be fibroid, abscess or lipoma and if there is something suspicious then biopsy can be taken and histologic analysis will show pathology if exists.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
