What Causes Swelling Under The Eyes Post Injecting Restylane?

I just got restaylane injections under my eyes to conseal my under eye bags. That was on Tuesday last week. I don t know if I m still swollen or the bags have become worse. Is there something I should be doing for it? I m too afraid to ice etc in fear that it may aggravate it more.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The Restylane gel introduced into the area below eye gets integrated into dermal tissue and binds water molecules to help maintain their volume. Though, certain amount of swelling is predictable during the part of early post operative recovery period, if it is prolonged beyond say 5-7 days, suspect possible hematoma or else. Icing the local part will help to some extent but will not harm.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
