General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

In absence of injury to eye, the possibility of swollen and black eye may be indicative of internal bleeding from bleeding diathesis as that of platelet disorder or other coagulopathy. In my clinic, after thorough clinical examination, I do suggest basic lab tests involving coagulation profile for further diagnostic approach. Primary relief with ice application is best advised at this point of time.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
