What Causes Swollen And Numb Lower Lip?

my lower lip was swollen and numb when i woke up. i thought that i might have bitten it when i was unconcsious. it was a little chewed up inside.but it is the outside that is swollen that doesn t usually happen from biting inside your mouth. i was in a panic attack and hadn t slept for two nights before.

Thanks for the query..

As per your complain swollen and numb lower lip can be most probably due to causes like allergic reaction to any food or medication while can also be due to any bug bite..
It does not seems to be due to panic attack or not sleeping but is most probably allergic angioedema..
I would suggest you to consult an Allergist or a General Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Allergic tests, Complete blood picture can help in confirmation of cause and hence will be treated accordingly..
As of now you you can take anti allergic like Levocetrizine or Benadryl..
Do cool compresses over the lip..
