What Causes Swollen And Painful Joint In Middle Finger?

Every December the top joint of my middle finger swells and becomes very painful (for the past 3 years). I'm thinking it must have something to do with the weather - generally lasts 7-10 days.

Last year was tested for gout, rhuematoid arthritis, and staph - all negative. Any ideas or suggestions to help.
