What Causes Swollen Ankle Post BP Medication Withdrawal?

My right foot is swollen, that includes the ankle and it seems to be moving up into my lower leg agea. It has been this way for over a week now. My doctor says it s because I quit taking a blood pressure medicine, which I have reordered, and it s being shipped. I ve tried ice, elevation and rest. My heart rate was a little fast but it seems to be ok - blood pressure was 124/73 and 128/78 - any suggestions??

Hi,

Ankle swelling is a side effect of blood pressure medications also as amlodipine.
Take blood pressure medicine regularly.
Ice has no effect on this.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Varinder Joshi, General & Family Physician
