What Causes Swollen Ankles And Feet?

hi. I have had swollen ankles and feet for some time thought it was due to the weather but its lasting longer these days. I have an under active thyroid takes meds for that. no other medication except for a water pill don t take often to many trips to the bathroom at work. Also. very tired minute I sit down I can fall asleep. Many talks where I am lost because I feel asleep. Plus over wt. What to do.

Extreme heat can cause dilated veins and swelling but it is usually not too severe and persistent.

Other causes of swelling of both lower limbs would be: (1) heart disease
(2)side effect of medication
(3)venous disease/varicose veins of both legs
(4)kidney disease
(5)liver disease

If it persists then you may need to be evaluated for one of these conditions.
