Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, my names Anthony and this morning I woke up to a swollen bump that s above my lip, sort of in my mustache. It doesn t hurt unless I press it and I have no idea what it could be. It s not a cold sore I know what those are, and the area isn t red. Any ideas?
As per your complain a swollen bump above the lip in the moustache is commonly due to causes like an ingrown hair, hair follicle infection or Folliculitis.. I would suggest you to apply a combination of Steroid and antibiotic ointment over it.. Do cool compresses over it.. In case if it does not resolve consult a Dermatologist or General Physician and get evaluated and in case of ingrown hairs he can put an incision and remove the hair... In case of Folliculitis Oral antibiotics along with continuing topical application can help..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
