What Causes Swollen Bumps On Head And Forehead In A Child?

My 5 year old type 1 diabetic son woke up this morning with some sort of lump or bump behind his head and on the side of his forehead. He woke up and started itching it and said he had a mosquito bite. It seems like there was swelling. It has been almost 24 hours now and the lump or bump is still present. Could it possibly be a allergic reaction to a bug bite ? And when should I be concerned and take him to the doctors ? Thank you.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The lump / bump associated with itching could be due to insect bite.
Insect bites are usually associated with central bite mark surrounded by swelling and redness.
Anti-histamine preparation will help to relieve the swelling and itching.
You may consult your doctor for clinical assessment and prescription of anti-histamine drug in appropriate doses for the child.
The mosquitoes should be avoided in future with appropriate anti-mosquito measures since a large number of diseases are caused by mosquito bite.

Thanks and take care
