What Causes Swollen Clitoral After Sex?

After sex one day the upper right side of my clitoral hood was swollen (only on one side). After the swelling subsided a bit I noticed that there were three little bumps possibly something that looks like pre-herpes outbreak. I put some steroid cream on it. The bumps never materialized into anything and then they turned into brown spots. I do have herpes. Should I be concerned ?
