What Causes Swollen Eyelids And Throat Discomfort?
my husband age 76 has slightly swelled eyelids and feels like he needs to clear his throat...so I m thinking some swelling there also. He had canned Progresso soup. Ingred. include Sodium phosphate but that is also in Campbell s Cream of Chicken Soup he eats frequently. I gave him 50 mg. of diphenyldramine HCL about 1 1/4 hrs. ago. Doesn t seem to have gotten worse....but also swelling of eyelids has not gone down. Still feels like his throat is affected....but better than 1 1/2 hrs. ago. Years ago he had a reaction similar when he ate some trail mix....says this feels the same. My question is since it hasn t worsened.....how long do we wait to act further if it doesn t get a lot better? More of the antihistamine at some point?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It can be blepharitisstye or allergic conjunctivitis. Local examination by an eye doctor is required to confirm the diagnosis so that treatment can be advised. It can be a foreign body in the conjunctiva.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
