What Causes Swollen Eyes While Having Sinus Infection?

I am a 57 year old woman. About a week ago I woke up with swelling of my eyes and the area around my eyes. I went to the doctor and he diagnosed me with a sinus infection, put me on antibiotic. My eyes are more swollen now especially over my tear ducts the eyelids and my eye bags. My skin is red and almost scaly and sensitive to the touch. I have tried warm compresses, cold teabags...nothing seems to be helping

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to sinusitis.

I recommend you to use anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen 400 mg three times a day.

I also recommend using saline nasal spray and artificial tears for local application.

If the symptoms continue prescribed antibiotics may be needed such as Augmentin.

You should consult your doctor about the prescription.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
