What Causes Swollen Face After Using Wikoryl Drops?

My daugher who is 6.480kg will be turning 8 mnths on 2nd Aug 2016. She was having loose motions, cough, runny nose from the start of Jul and was on medication the entire month. During the medication of 4-5 days, loose motions (greenish with mucus) would stop but used to reoccur after 5 days of medication. Yesterday, the motions were greenish and had pooped 4 times. She had temperature as well. So I gave her Wikroryl drops in evening. Prescribed dose was 0.8ml. I gave 0.4 ml which she immediately vomitted so I gave her drops again of 0.8ml. Today morning she had slight swelling on face near both her eyes. Was the medicine overdose for her? And what should be done to get her motions proper? We had got her stool tested which says bacillary dysentry. Mild lactose intolerance . Please advise.

Hello,

The facial swelling is side effect of Wikoryl drops more likely than overdose as there may be sensitivity of the body to particular agent. For diarrhea control, probiotics with GI specific antibiotics as Metronidazole will help a lot. For lactose intolerance, lactose free diet with specific attention must be practiced vigilantly.
