What Causes Swollen Face And Lips Along With Toothache?

I have a severe toothache. So bad that the right side of my face an lips are swollen. I notice each time Ilook in the mirror the swelling continues to get worse as the day persists. I went to thelocal walk-in cclinic earlier today and was prescribed and antibiotic. I know that the don'twork iimmediatelybut I just ccan't take the pain. Ibuprofen and Tylenol aen't touching it. And like I said the swelling was just a small bump and has grown onto my whole eight side of my face and now my lips. And today is Saturday, the soonest I'd be able to get onto the de would be Monday :(

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms it seems that due to deep infection in tooth there is formation of DENTAL ABSCESS in which there is pus formation below the root tips of the tooth and at times pus perforates the bone and gets accumulated in the soft tissues leading to swelling..

Taking medicines alone will not relieve you permanently and you need to get the tooth treated..

You should consult your dentist and get evaluated and get an x ray done and in case if tooth can be saved root canal treatment of tooth followed by antibiotics and painkillers will relieve.
In case if there is extensive decay extraction has to be done..

As of now you can take antibiotics like Augmentin and painkiller like Tramadol as it can relieve severe pain..
Do cold compresses over the swollen side of face..
But permanent relief will be achieved after the tooth is treated properly..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
