Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi our 6 yr old bra son has a couple of swellings on his neck and one on his skull nearby. The Gp has identified this as swollen lympth glands and he has been referred to a paedetrician. However, it is not possible for him to see our grandson until late July when he will get a complete test done. As our gra dsn will be overseas for 2 weeks prior to be seen, it is risky t leave it s o long or should I encourage my daughter in law to seek another doctor in the meantime? The boy was letargic over the past weekend and even took an afternoon nap for several hours. I am very concerned as he is a weakly child and has gone through many traumtic xhnges over the past two years with parents divorcing. I would appreciate your opinion on this matter. Many thanks
Thanks for our query . The lymph nodes get swelled due to infection . Without a shadow of doubt you should seek medical help. Because infection sometimes spread to surrounding tissues and make things complicated.
I would suggest you to :-
- Give him full rest .
- Make him drink plenty of water to prevent him from dehydration.
And consult pediatrician for proper examination . Doctor may order blood test ,X-ray or CT scan to make things clear and to find out what exactly is the underlying cause.
Doctor may prescribe antibiotics course , anti inflammatory or multivitamin supplement for quick recovery.
