What Causes Swollen Glands In Throat?

I am a 66 year male.I have been in Hong Kong for a month. A week or so ago, I discovered that the gland (I am assuming submodular gland or a tonsil) of the left side of my neck sticks out. It seems that both glands feel the same, however, the sticking one is visible (looks like locally swollen area). I recall that the left area felt different for a year or so, however, I forgot to ask about it during my check up visits.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

These glands can be swollen due to any on going infection of the throat. And will remain swollen even after infection subsides for at least 7 days. So I would recommend you to observe these for 3-4 days if you still feeling no difference then consult your practitioner and get a course of anti-histamines and antibiotics if required.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
