What Causes Swollen Joints In The Right Hand?

I have swollen joints, especially one on my right hand, that flare up when I ve done work around the house. I have had tests for rheumatoid arthritis, but it comes back negative. My next step will be to see a Rheumatologist. I have tried everything, but after doing things like washing the car, I could not go to sleep that night because my hands hurt so bad. Can you suggest something that might help? or that it might be if not RA?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

To me should see rheumatologist first. Then if no rheumatoid arthritis then run x-ray of hands and consult further with an orthopedic doctor. MRI of the hands might also be helpful. Plus need to check blood electrolytes and calcium and Vit d levels.

Apply analgesic cream locally when you get the pain. Take oral analgesic and magnesium supplement.

Discuss this with your caring doctor and discuss applying magnesium spray when feeling the pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
