What Causes Swollen Legs While Recovering From Pneumonia?

My dad has pneumonia and is recovering at home...should I provide him with a humidifier? And if so, cool or heat? Also, they prescribed 750 mg. of Levofloxacin take every other day. He only has 1 kidney and his legs are swollen...he is also on a nebulizer every 4 to 6 hours. Thank you
