What Causes Swollen Lips Along With Bleeding Gums?

hi doctors, i woke up this morning then i look my face in the mirror my lips is getting bigger insinde of my upper lip i though this bigger because i have a gum problem because my gum is bledding,,doc what should i do to my lips and how to get it normal doc this is the day my lips are getting bigger (May 4,2015 - May 5,2015)

Hello Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Thanks for your query.

Understanding your concern . The symptom you mention in query are pointing towards condition known as stomatitis .There can be many cause for stomatitis like poor oral hygiene ,burns from hot food and drinks,allergy or infection . Chronic mouth breather can also counter such problem due irritated dry mucus membrane .

I would suggest you to consult dentist for proper evaluation and to rule out other cause like sucrvy .Doctor may perform oral prophylaxis (scaling ).He/she may also prescribe antibiotics course like oral/topical tetracycline if there is any infection and anti histamine drug if there is allergic reaction.

For now avoid hot and spicy food/drinks ,maintain proper oral hygiene and start taking vitamin C supplements which are very helpful in gum swelling.
