What Causes Swollen Lump Behind The Knee While Suffering From High Uric Acid?
hi, i am a male 45 years and my uric acid is 7.5 for which i am taking xyloric 100mg, twice a day. The other issue is I am having trouble at the back of my knee area. Its like swollen round shaped and soft and feels like someone has twisted my muscle. its been a month and the pain has not fully gone. What do you suggest?
Noted your history of swelling behind knee, suffering from high Uric acid and taking Xyloric 100 mg twice daily. The commonest cause of a swelling behind knee joint is Morant Baker's cyst which is extension of the capsule of the knee joint through a weakness from posterior past. This can be confirmed by an MRI and if present can be managed by surgery. In small cyst your Orthopedic Surgeon may try Arthroscopic surgery or in bigger one an open surgery may be required. If MRI and clinical examination shows the swelling to be due to something else then the treatment will be as per the cause found.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
