What Causes Swollen Lymph Node Around The Neck?

Hi doctor, My one and half year old daughter has a lump on the right sife of her neck. I think its a swollen lymph node. It is larger than a pee, painless and movable. I don t know exactly when it became swollen. But i noticed it 2weeks ago. Still it remains the same. She didn t have any infection for the past two months. She had MMR vaccination on 11 jan 2017. And she has eczema also. She had dry and red patches on her skin mostly on her legs. But after consulted with a dermetologist it has cleared up and her skin seems ok now. What could be the cause of the swollen lymph node?Is there anything to worry? Is there any emergency to see a doctor?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Most probably it will be a swollen lymph node.

Consult a general practitioner and start a short course of antibiotics preferably Amoxclav.

Generally, it will settle in three to four days.

If persists better to consult a general surgeon and plan for a fine needle biopsy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
