Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For over 10 years I have had this problem. On the right side of my neck close to my throat a knot pops out, which prevents me from swallowing.. I have to physically pop it back in, which hurts a lot. As time has progressed it has gotten harder to push in. Finally, went to an ENT doctor who says I am a medical mystery. I have had an ultrasound, ct with contrast, and waiting on results from ultrasound guided biopsy. My first two test have shown that my lymph nodes are extremely large.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of swollen lymph nodes in the neck which seems to be due to strep throat which is a bacterial infection. The symptoms can also occur due to tonsillitis , viral pharyngitis or allergic reaction. I would suggest you to
1) Antibiotics are first line of treatment option in this case. In case of mild fever you can take Calpol or paracetamol for relief as well as it will relieve throat pain too. 2) Hot milk with a pinch of turmeric boiled with it at bedtime for 2-3 days as it has antimicrobial action. 3) Avoid spicy and rough food. Take diet rich in soft food. 4) Sip on lukewarm water and take throat lozenges. 5) Take anti inflammatory drugs such as Levocetirizine.
If symptoms keeps on persisting visit pediatrician once and get it examined. Maintain oral hygiene. Take proper course of antibiotics. Get blood tests done if required.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
