What Causes Swollen Lymph Nodes?

Hi, I have been diagnosed with TB lymphadenopathy. But the FNAC did not find the bacteria( the result of FNAC is Z-N stain in AFB test is negative, granulomatous inflammation suggestive of TB), the chest x ray is clear, and USG showed swollen lymph nodes in left side of neck above collar bone. Can this be anything other than TB? My doc prescribed 4 tablets of Akurit-3 45 min before breakfast, Pan 40 45 min before breakfast and Benadon after lunch for 2 months. He has informed us that this will be a 9 month treatment since it has lesser side effects. Kindly advise.

Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
You have been diagnosed with 'tubercular lymphadenopathy' based on clinical presentation and FNAC investigation.
You would not always see bacteria in the specimen. Also it will not always affect lungs every time and it can affect any organ solely in the body.
Hence, what the doctor has prescribed is anti-tubercular treatment regimen, which you need to strictly follow for the specified period for the cure of your illness. In case you do not comply with it, you may land up with resistant case of tuberculosis or its complications, which would be very difficult to treat.
