What Causes Swollen Nodule On The Left Side Of Neck?
Hi i have a thyroide nodule in the left side of my neck for almost 3 week now i have my blood test result at 1.04 do you think it can be cancer? Also im not sure is a nodule it just a small ball on the left side of my neck my ultrasound is next week what do you think with your experiance that it can be? Thank you
Hi, There is a euthyroid (normal thyroid function as TSH is 1.04) It may be benign (non cancer) or malignant (cancer), Usually Malignant nodules are non mobile due to involvement of adjacent structure, hard to touch, may be associated with enlarged neck lympnodes.
We will get more idea after ultrasound of neck. Definite diagnosis can be made by doing biopsy of node (usually fine needle aspiration cytology, FNAC) Some time radio iodine scan may be advisable to know activity of nodule (Cold- hypo functioning, Hot- Hyper functioning) Hot nodules are usually benign.
