What Causes Swollen Painful Lump In The Crease Of The Leg?

I am a 22 year old male. I have a lump which appears to be an ingrown hair in the crease on my leg, between my thigh and groin. It s painful to touch and becomes swollen and irritated when I do touch it. Usually it is small and not painful at all. I noticed it about 3 months ago but as it has not caused me any pain, until recently, I haven t been bothered by it. I regularly shave my pubic hairs, which is why I think it may be an ingrown hair. Please can you help?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear Greetings
Regarding your experience of a painful lump with ingrown hair between your groin and the thigh after previous shaving your pubic region I am suggesting you have developed a abscess
In regards to this please see a physician for expert clinical assessment and possible surgical interventional procedures (incision and drainage)
Meanwhile please take some antibiotics and analgesic pending your appointment
I hope this helps
Regards and get well soonest
I find this answer helpful
