What Causes Swollen Retropharyngeal Abscess On The Left Side Be Treated?

Hi. My Retropharyngeal lymph node swollen on the left side and I had the thyroid removed just over a month ago and was told after that I had papillary carcinoma with a rating of p1tb and now starting after just over two weeks after the surgery my node swelled and has been hurting, It is visible due to being so large and hurts. I had an appointment with a Oncologist over a week ago and asked her if it might me linked to the thyroid and she said she didn t think it was, it is still hurting and I am not ill it is just that node bothering me and it has been over 3 weeks. My question is should I be worried about this?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Enlarged nodes may be due to Infection or tuberculosis or lymphoma or testicular malignancy or abscess etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Please consult your oncologist he will do MRI if necessary biopsy and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
