What Causes Swollen Salivary Gland Under One Side Of The Tongue?

Hi, I recently had a swollen salivary gland under one side of my my tongue (right side) and was prescribed antibiotics - I finished the abs and the red swollen salivary gland is back to normal but my gland in my neck still has some pain and I still don t feel 100% - does it take longer for the lymph node to heal after the salivary gland does?

Hello,

It seems like you had an infection in the salivary gland that resolved with antibiotics and due to infection in the salivary gland the adjacent lymph nodes also got infected and they are still tender and uncomfortable. Yes, it is true that lymph nodes can take a longer time to resolve once the infection subsides, so there is nothing to worry. You can do cool packs over the lymph nodes and along with it take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen.

In case if still there is no improvement you should consult your physician and get a script of antibiotics for faster relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora
